Careers Education

Our aim is to enable students to develop the skills and knowledge required to broaden their horizons, ensuring they reach their full potential by making well-informed decisions throughout their school, adult and working lives.

We endeavour to provide all students with access to personalised, relevant, impartial information at critical transition points as well as an up-to-date Careers Education programme. Careers related learning at the Roseland raises aspirations, increases opportunities to develop the skills required to achieve their full potential and provides students with the opportunity to experience different career pathways.

The Careers Education programme extends beyond the academic. Students are provided with a range of opportunities to develop their personal qualities and skills, which enables them to discover new interests.

Careers provision

The Careers Education programme is delivered to Years 7 to 11 through a planned and structured mixture of Personal Development lessons, tutor time, assemblies, and specific events such work experience week in Year 10 or Taster Days to post-16 options in KS4.

The programme is coordinated by our Careers Leader, Miss Filkins, with the support of Learning Leaders, Enterprise Advisors and the schools Work Experience Coordinator. External providers, alumni as well as other professionals, for example academic staff from universities, further and higher education venues, support the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum.

Underpinned by the Gatsby Benchmarks, the impact of Careers Education is measured through the use of Compass. This, combined with the use of the CDI Framework, provides students with an aspirational curriculum that places individual needs at its core.
